Jill is an expert in teaching about Jewish history, Jewish identity and antisemitism, having created and led workshops on these topics for K-12 and university-level administrators across the west coast. She is a proud graduate of the UC system (UCLA! Go Bruins!) and holds graduate degrees in education from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and George Washington University.
This workshop will serve as an introductory conversation and will focus primarily on understanding Jewish identity and the various forms of antisemitism. A part two of this session to be held in April 2023 will take attendees on a deeper dive into how to directly address instances of antisemitism on campus.
Following this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Appreciate the diversity and complexity of Jewish identity
- Recognize historical and contemporary manifestations of antisemitism
- Explain the connection between antisemitism and racism
- Understand the relationship between antisemitism and anti-Zionism
- Identify strategies to respond to bias incidents in the context of campus free expression
